Use of rainwater

Water means life and drinking water is a vital resource. Handling the earth’s water supplies responsibly and sensibly is becoming increasingly important. Rain water utilisation systems support the economic handling of precious drinking water.

Drinking water – the most precious asset on earth. Through human intervention into the ecosystem, it is becoming more and more important to handle resources conscientiously. On a daily basis, every Austrian uses around 130 litres of fresh water. Nearly half of this is used for applications such as washing laundry, flushing toilets, watering gardens, cleaning water, etc., for which drinking water quality is not necessary at all.
The implementation of a rainwater utilisation system is ideally suited to any household and helps to stabilise the groundwater table through fewer extractions. Overall, this results in the careful use of resources, as energy is saved for the treatment and transport of water.
The greatest savings in the household can be made with flushing toilets, whereby the formation of urine scale is also prevented by using rainwater. The soft (limescale-free) rainwater prevents washing machines from furring up and helps to save up to 50% of laundry detergent, which reduces chemicals entering into waste water. Furthermore, no fabric softener is required due to the soft water quality of rainwater.
